Members of our management and technical teams have an average of 30 years of geological, operational, commercial and acquisition experience in the Gulf of Mexico. Most of our management team has worked together since 2000, using strategies at Talos Energy similar to those previously used to successfully build and sell two companies in our basin.


Timothy S. Duncan, Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer

Tim Duncan is a Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Talos Energy LLC. Prior to Talos Energy, Mr. Duncan was the Senior Vice President of Business Development and a founder of Phoenix Exploration Company LP, where he was responsible for Phoenix’s business development evaluations and negotiations; including the sale of the company to a group of buyers led by Apache Corporation. Prior to Phoenix, he was Manager of Reservoir Engineering and Evaluations for Gryphon Exploration Company. Mr. Duncan also worked in various reservoir engineering and portfolio evaluation functions for Amerada Hess Corporation, Zilkha Energy Company, and Pennzoil E&P Company.

In 2013, Talos Energy was named by the Houston Chronicle as the #1 Top Workplace in the Houston area for companies under 150 employees and has maintained a position on the list of Top Workplaces for the last five years. In June 2016, Mr. Duncan was named as the EY Entrepreneur of the Year for the Energy & Energy Services sector in the Gulf Coast area.

Mr. Duncan earned a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Mississippi State University, where he was honored in 2012 as a Distinguished Fellow of the College of Engineering. He subsequently earned an MBA from the Bauer Executive Program at the University of Houston. He is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA), and the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO). Mr. Duncan also serves on various academically focused boards including the College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council and the Foundation Board at Mississippi State University.


Stephen E. Heitzman, Founder, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Steve Heitzman is a Founder, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Talos Energy LLC. Prior to Talos Energy, Mr. Heitzman was the President and Chief Executive Officer and a founder of Phoenix Exploration Company LP. Prior to Phoenix, he was a founder and V.P. Operations of Gryphon Exploration and was responsible for the formation, staffing and supervision of Gryphon’s Operations Team from 2000 through 2006. While at Gryphon, he managed aggregate capital expenditures of more than $250 million and led the team that was responsible for industry leading metrics.

Prior to Gryphon, Mr. Heitzman was Senior Vice President of Planning and Development for Harken Energy, Vice President of Engineering for ATP Oil & Gas, and held various engineering and management positions both domestically and internationally for Roy M. Huffington, Inc. Mr. Heitzman earned his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University where he was honored with the Distinguished Engineer Award in 2015 and is a member of the Petroleum Engineering Academy, the Academy of Mechanical Engineers and the Engineering Key Society. He is a major donor to the Fuller Petroleum Engineering Research building with a named conference room and has funded three endowed scholarships for engineering students. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas and has over 40 years of experience in upstream energy.


John A. Parker, Founder, Executive Vice President—Exploration

John Parker is a Founder and Executive Vice President—Exploration of Talos Energy LLC. Prior to Talos Energy, Mr. Parker was the Senior Vice President of Exploration and an original founder of Phoenix Exploration Company LP, where he was responsible for Phoenix's exploration program. Phoenix made several significant discoveries resulting in impactful reserve additions which led to the sale of the company to a group of buyers led by Apache Corporation. Prior to Phoenix, he was Exploration Manager of the Texas Shelf at Gryphon Exploration, where he generated prospects and supervised the prospect generation of the Texas exploration team. His exploration team was responsible for 72% of the reserves discovered at Gryphon. Mr. Parker also worked as an exploration geologist for EOG Resources in the Gulf of Mexico. Mr. Parker started his career at Shell Oil Company where he worked as an exploration geologist in the Gulf Coast onshore. He later worked exploring in international basins at Pecten, the international subsidiary of Shell Oil.

Mr. Parker earned his BA from Louisiana State University and his MS in Earth Science from the University of New Orleans and has more than 34 years of industry experience.


Michael L. Harding II, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

Michael L. Harding II has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer since May 2018 and served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Talos Energy since December 2015. Mr. Harding was Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of Talos Energy from 2014 and interim Chief Financial Officer until promoted in 2015. Mr. Harding joined Talos Energy as Chief Accounting Officer and Controller in April 2012. Mr. Harding is responsible for financial reporting, planning, audit, tax, information technology. Prior to joining Talos LLC in February 2012, Mr. Harding was Manager of Business Development for Consulting Services for Pannell Kerr Forster of Texas, P.C., beginning in December 2010. Mr. Harding served from December 2008 to December 2010 as Vice President and Controller for RigNet, Inc. At Apache Corporation, Mr. Harding served from June 2003 to December 2008 in various levels of accounting management including revenue, capital and regional accounting management in Calgary, AB. With El Paso Merchant Energy Group, Mr. Harding served seven years in various accounting management roles including financial derivatives and power asset accounting and planning.

Mr. Harding earned his BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University and is a member of the AICPA. Mr. Harding also serves on the Advisory Council for Texas &AM University’s McFerrin Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship.


William S. Moss III, Executive Vice President and General Counsel

Bill Moss is the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Talos Energy LLC. Prior to Talos, Mr. Moss was a partner at Mayer Brown LLP in Houston where he was the head of the Houston Corporate Practice. At Mayer Brown, Mr. Moss’s practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and general corporate and securities matters and he represented clients throughout the energy value chain.

Mr. Moss joined Talos in May of 2013 after having represented Talos as outside counsel in its initial formation and its subsequent acquisition of Energy Resource Technology, LLC from Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. in February of 2013. Mr. Moss also represented Phoenix Exploration Company LP in its initial formation, acquisitions, and ultimate sale to a group of buyers led by Apache Corporation. Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Mr. Moss worked at Baker Botts, L.L.P. Mr. Moss has an AB from Dartmouth College, a M.Phil from Cambridge University and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.


John B. Spath, Senior Vice President – Production Operations

John B. Spath has served as the Senior Vice President of Production Operation since May 2018. Prior to his promotion to Vice President in November 2015, Mr. Spath served as Manager of Deepwater Drilling for Talos Energy from February 2013 through November 2015 and was responsible for over $200 million in deepwater capital projects. Prior to Talos Energy, Mr. Spath served as Drilling Project Manager for Deep Gulf Energy where he was an integral part of the Deepwater Team responsible for the Sargent, Condor and Danny II subsea developments. Mr. Spath had previously served in various operational positions for Stone Energy, Mariner Energy and Marathon Oil.

Mr. Spath has more than 22 years of offshore experience in Facilities, Production Operations, Completions and Drilling of which 5 years were on international assignments in Aberdeen, Scotland, Cork, Ireland, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. Mr. Spath earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1995 and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.


Robert Sheninger, Vice President – Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability

Robert Sheninger is the Vice President, Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) and Sustainability for Talos Energy. Prior to Talos, Mr. Sheninger was Head of HSE North America Region for Aker Solutions, a Norwegian oil services company that offers engineering, construction, maintenance, modification and operation services for new and existing oil and gas fields. The subsea and subsurface products and services offerings range from design, through manufacturing and commissioning to maintenance services.

Prior to Aker Solutions, Mr. Sheninger was Vice President HSE for Aquilex Hydrochem where he developed strategies and control activities to reduce exposure during hydroblasting, chemical cleaning, and other industrial cleaning processes. Mr. Sheninger also spent seven years with Cameron International as the HSE Director the Americas and Europe where he supported subsea, drilling, surface, and flow control business units. Overall, Mr. Sheninger brings over 22 years of HSE experience to Talos Energy that helps drive continual and sustainable risk reduction and process improvement initiatives. Mr. Sheninger holds a BS in Environmental Health from Salisbury University and an MS in Industrial Health from the University of Michigan. Mr. Sheninger is also a Certified Safety Professional and a Certified Safety & Health Manager.


C. Gordon Lindsey, Vice President – Corporate Development

C. Gordon Lindsey has served as the Vice President of Corporate Development of Talos Energy since May 2018. Previous to being named Vice President, Mr. Lindsey served as Director of Asset Development from February 2017 to April 2018. Prior to joining Talos, Mr. Lindsey was Vice President Exploration/Business Development and a founding member of Gulf Coast Energy Resources where he led a team, focused on three major conventional onshore plays and GOM Shelf. Mr. Lindsey also served as Managing Director of Acquisitions and Divestitures at LLOG from 2003 to 2010 where his focus was on coordinating and executing asset sales of over $850 million to help facilitate LLOG’s strategic move to the GOM deep-water. While at Amerada Hess, Mr. Lindsey held several leadership positions. During his 21 year tenure at Amerada Hess, his roles included but were not limited to; GOM Shelf Business Unit Manager, Onshore South Exploration Manager, Division Geophysicist and Division Geologist.

Mr. Lindsey began his career as a geophysicist at Texaco after graduating from the University of Arkansas with a BS in Geology/Geophysics.


Deborah Huston, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel

Deborah Huston is the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Talos Energy Inc. Ms. Huston is an experienced and accomplished corporate lawyer. She has spent more than 20 years as in-house counsel with energy and industrial services companies. She has responsibility for various aspects of legal support for the Company, including commercial contract negotiation, mergers and acquisitions, the legal aspects of Talos’ Mexican operations, and Human Resources. Before joining Talos, Ms. Huston was the General Counsel of Baytex Energy USA (formerly Aurora Oil & Gas), an oil and gas production company with assets in and around the Eagle Ford shale. For the 17 years prior to joining Aurora, she was at inhouse and later General Counsel of PSC, LLC, an environmental and industrial services provider.

Ms. Huston is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Houston Honors College and the University of Texas School of Law (with Honors). She is a past President of the Harris County Education Foundation and serves as a Board Member of the Texas General Counsel Forum and an Advisory Board Member of the Women’s Energy Network.


Loren Long, Vice President – Mexico

Loren Long has served as Vice President–Mexico for Talos Energy since May 2018. Previous to his promotion to Managing Director—Mexico in April 2016, Mr. Long served as Director—Mexico for Talos since August 2014. Mr. Long previously worked with the Talos management team at Phoenix Exploration from 2006 to 2011. In 2011, Mr. Long co-founded a private equity-backed oil and gas company, Momentum Oil & Gas, which produced and explored in South Texas.

In 1994, Mr. Long came to Houston to work for Amoco as a Drilling Engineer. In late 1996, he began working for Union Pacific Resources as a production and reservoir engineer in East Texas and the Gulf of Mexico shelf. In 2000, Mr. Long returned to Houston, where he worked in various engineering positions with Anadarko Petroleum, Houston Exploration, Redman Energy, and Phoenix Exploration.

Mr. Long earned his BS in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University in 1994. He is an active member of SPE and SPEE, and serves as an Advisory Member to the Stanford Petroleum Investment Committee.
